AVA takes a stern view on pet abandonment, and will take enforcement action, where necessary. Individuals who abandon their pets or fail in their duty of care toward their pets, are liable to a maximum fine of $10,000 and/or a maximum jail term of 12 months for first convictions.
We need to inform you that it is not within our regulation of our business for us to take in pets.
If your reason is that you feel they might live better at our place or that they are too big for you, we cannot take them in. We are not a government organisation, nor are we supported by any special groups. We are just passionate pet owners like you. So do understand that we have no obligation to you or your pet.
